Cass County Health Department reports vaccinations, mobile clinic launch and July 31 back-to-school event

The Cass County Health Department presented May program statistics and upcoming events. Staff reported 78 births, 125 deaths and 586 vaccinations administered in the reporting period; the department said it has 12 latent TB patients on medication and one active TB patient on direct observation therapy. Health staff also said the mobile clinic began operations today and that the department plans a back-to-school event on July 31 at Mulehausen Park to offer sports physicals, immunizations, car-seat safety checks and pregnancy-resource services.
Health staff noted recent suicide-awareness and mental-health events (including an annual 'stomp out the stigma' walk and a regional mental health summit) and said a peer-recovery specialist will be available at the health department on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Commissioners asked a few operational questions and staff said they would coordinate with schools on sports-physical requirements.
"We will offer sports physicals, immunizations, car safety checks, etcetera, and the pregnancy resource clinic, mental health America, and the Cass County Health Department will begin mobile Mondays," health staff said while describing planned services.
