Cornell Cooperative Extension reports program reach and receives $7,500 donation for science outreach

Sandi Bastedo, representing Cornell Cooperative Extension, presented a multi-program update to the Government Operations Committee. She reported that 4-H reached more than 1,200 youths through 111 educational opportunities, Farm Safety Day drew 267 attendees, and the Master Gardeners ran eight events reaching roughly 158 individuals. Bastedo said that SNAP-Ed and other nutrition programs held classes and Veggie Van workshops but that some participation numbers were unclear.
Bastedo told the committee CCE had received a $7,500 check from Guido Palmer to continue science outreach for homeschool families and that staff plan to add an agricultural component to the program. The committee accepted the report as information.
