Soil & Water reports Sugar Creek toe-wood work completed; seeks additional riparian funding

Colby Petersen reported that the toe-wood project on Sugar Creek was completed before bad weather with partial funding from FLLOWPA and that additional seeding and riparian plantings remain; staff will pursue Eastern Finger Lakes funding.
Colby Petersen, representing Yates County Soil & Water, told the committee that the toe-wood restoration work on Sugar Creek was completed before the onset of bad weather and that the project received partial funding from the Finger Lakes–Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance (FLLOWPA). Petersen said crews still need to complete seeding and riparian plantings and that staff will seek additional funding, possibly from Eastern Finger Lakes program monies.
Petersen also summarized related work: watershed inspections, the NAACC culvert inventory and other stream projects. The committee reviewed the Soil & Water update and had no objections to forwarding related appointment resolutions to the Legislative Meeting.
