Social Services reports HEAP activity: 349 applications and $186,000 distributed

Amy Miller, Social Services, told the Human Services Committee that as of Dec. 22 the department had received 349 Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) applications, with 240 approved and 38 denied, and had distributed $186,000 in benefits directly to providers. The department also re-implemented the heating equipment repair and replacement program to assist residents with failed equipment.
Miller presented the HEAP figures as part of the department’s regular updates and invited committee questions; the committee had no objections to advancing related resolutions to the full Legislature. Committee members pressed for continued monitoring of pending applications and benefit delivery timelines.
