Cascadia Partners gave a clear schedule for the code‑update process and a community engagement plan. Victor Tran said the team will produce three drafts of the amendment package—initial drafting through December, a revision cycle, and an adoption‑ready draft scheduled for the December–April phase—with advisory‑committee and community meetings interspersed.
Tran described a two‑part outreach approach: an in‑person workshop or open house with explanatory visuals and a broader online questionnaire for those who cannot attend. City members asked that draft amendments include footnotes citing which state statutes each change addresses; Cascadia agreed to add those cross‑references to the commentary accompanying proposed code text.
The consultants said they expect to return with a first draft to the council and planning commission as the project moves from concept to code language.
