Lubbock County Commissioners voted to sign a Family Land Heritage Program application recognizing Dunn Farms, a family farm located about six miles northeast of New Deal in Lubbock County.
Former Commissioner Franklin Dunn described the farm's history to the Court, saying the property was originally about 100 acres and is now roughly 86 acres, located on County Road 53 near State Highway 2902. "My son farms it," Dunn said when asked about current operation. The Court moved, seconded and approved signing the application.
The program honors farms and ranches that have maintained continuous agricultural production by the same family for designated anniversary milestones; the Court congratulated the Dunn family and paused for a photograph following the vote.
