Judge Jakey Allen read and signed a county proclamation declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Kaufman County and urged residents to support local prevention efforts. "Therefore, I, Jakey Allen, Kaufman County Judge, do hereby proclaim April 2026 to be Child Abuse Prevention Month in Kaufman County," he said as he read the document and invited partner organizations forward for a photo.
Officials from local child-welfare organizations joined the court for the proclamation and thanked commissioners for their support. County partners named in the proclamation included the Kaufman County Department of Family and Protective Services, Kaufman County Children's Advocacy Center, Kaufman County Child Welfare Board, Lone Star CASA, REACH Child Placing Agency, AFR Norville Shelter Foundation and Bikers Against Child Abuse. The court approved the proclamation by motion and voice vote and took a group photo following the reading.
