RDC agrees to draft handbook and outreach materials to explain role and services

Commissioners emphasized the need for concise outreach materials to explain the RDC’s purpose and to invite communities to request assistance. One member proposed a one-page handbook capturing vision, mission, and short- and long-term goals; the commission favored that approach and asked members to prepare concrete proposals before the next meeting. "If nothing more, we can go back through our minutes and summarize what the subjects were in each meeting," a member said, recommending minutes be used to produce short activity reports and outreach copy.

Members discussed using flyers or targeted mailings once the handbook is drafted and suggested identifying stakeholders using GIS parcel lists and political districts. They also agreed to avoid heavy-handed, top-down mandates and to prioritize stakeholder engagement and local leadership in any EDA outreach. Staff and members will circulate draft outreach text and a one-sheet handbook for review prior to the next meeting.
