Resident raises concerns about Planning & Zoning records, energy siting and battery storage

Deb Grider used the public-comment period to raise several concerns about county records and energy policy. She said she has not received officially signed minutes from the Planning & Zoning office (a request she said has been submitted to the state), noted she received corrections to 2024 appointments but not 2025, and asked the commissioners to help secure signed records. She also requested a third-party review of records, asked whether the county would consider resolutions addressing nuclear and carbon capture, and handed commissioners an ordinance from another county for battery storage consideration. Commissioners said they would speak with the county attorney and consider the requests.
Resident Dennis Layman added that, on May 5, 2025, a resolution was written stating there would be no battery storage; he said an ordinance could be approved by the APC board. Commissioners said they were not aware of any battery storage currently in Blackford County and will investigate the matter.
