Elko County schedules radiological exercise Sept. 4 with MERT refresher and live-agent drill

James Johnson of City of Elko Fire told the committee that part two of the county's radiological training will occur Sept. 4 and will include a MERT refresher followed by a live-agent exercise involving a whip truck. "Anyone with a radiological monitor within the county should definitely consider attending," Johnson said, and he noted that registration is available on NTQS.
Johnson explained the two-part format: an initial MERT refresher for participant orientation and then an exercise using a live agent from the whip truck, which he said is likely "the first time in about 20 years" it will stop by the county. County emergency partners — police, fire, EMS — are invited and the exercise will include lunch for attendees.
Because no quorum was present at the Aug. 8 informational meeting, the announcement served as a scheduling notice; participating agencies were asked to register through NTQS to receive details and confirm attendance.
