Chair Lee Cabness outlined upcoming training opportunities available to local responders, including ICS coursework and a locally hosted G197 course in November focused on integrating access and functional needs into planning. "There's also just a plethora of classes around the state... generally, they're free admission courses," Cabness told the group and encouraged members to sign up via the Nevada NTQS site.
Cabness also said the county will host the region's threat-hazard identification and risk assessment (THIRA) at the Convention Center, a three-day event described as starting "on the 21st or 22nd" of the month. He urged agencies to participate; such multi-day THIRA workshops gather local jurisdictions to identify hazards, estimate community-level impacts, and prioritize capabilities.
Because no quorum was present, the committee only announced these training and planning opportunities; registration and participation coordination will proceed through standard channels and event registries.
