Business owner says mold exposure forced closure of New Orleans Square unit; requests relocation aid

Tracy Simon of Get a Haircut Barbershop told the board her husband suffered acute respiratory failure on April 29, 2026, which she attributed to long-term mold exposure from a roof leak at New Orleans Square. Simon said Clark County testing found 29 different types of mold and mycotoxins in the building and argued the county's public statement that "no issues or levels of concern were identified" contradicts the testing and public-health guidance.
"If you do not plan to properly remediate this building, we ask that you grant us the relocation funding immediately so we can move, recover, and reopen our business safely," Simon said. The Chair (or county staff as represented in the transcript) responded that the county is working on the issue and that relocation assistance will be part of an upcoming RDA agenda for consideration.
