County projects staff updated the court on the across‑the‑street phase‑2 site and described change order number 3: removal of underground debris and additional select backfill.
"It's removal of underground debris and additional select backfill... this caused change order number 3 in the amount of $13,219.20," staff reported, noting crews exposed buried brick, concrete chunks and sheared telephone poles while excavating the southeast corner of the subgrade.
Staff said 320 cubic yards of select fill were brought in and compacted, and the contingency fund — which began around $304,038 — stands at $264,958.13 after change orders to date. The court was told the work was necessary to meet compaction standards for the new parking lot and avoid future settlement problems.
