Kendall County Commissioners voted Jan. 13 to accept a $1,000,000 grant from the Texas Water Development Board to purchase and install outdoor warning sirens and flood‑detection equipment across the county.
Christina Pacey, county grant manager, told the court the award stems from state flood‑mitigation programs following the July 4, 2025 flooding and that an additional $250,000 is available if the county demonstrates the need. County staff will convene a technical group to recommend siting and will run a competitive solicitation to select vendors. Pacey said coordination with surrounding counties is under discussion so systems can interface regionwide.
The judge moved to accept the TWDB grant (commitment number 2691103025) and authorized the county judge to execute related documents; the motion passed 4–0. Staff said a later procurement and construction phase will return to the court for approval.
