San Patricio County roads staff updated the commission on a series of maintenance projects this week, including mowing in the Bethel and Odum areas, chip‑and‑seal work on County Road 2249 (1 mile plus 0.5 mile) and a rock chip‑seal on County Road 502. The crew also completed shoulder preparation on County Roads 2313 and 2431 and installed stop signs on County Road 1470 and County Road 2349.
The report noted additional safety measures including delineators on County Road 2047 and County Road 798, brush pickup and mulching at Fred Jones Park in Portland, and operation of a grapple truck. ‘‘We did the chip and seal on County Road 2249. We did a mile and 0.5 of chip seal there,’’ the roads representative said, summarizing recent pavement work. Commissioners asked few follow‑up questions and thanked staff for the work.
