Commissioners mark Women’s Equality Day and highlight local efforts on pay equity and maternal health

Speakers included Jackie Bally, chair of the Harris County Women’s Commission, who described outreach and training work, and Dr. April Day of the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance, who said the Alliance serves thousands of women-owned businesses and reported recent certification and job-creation figures. Commissioner Briones noted the county’s disparity study showing a shift in county contract awards and urged continued action to narrow pay and maternal-health gaps. Commissioners thanked the speakers and asked county staff to follow up on workforce and contracting steps announced during the presentations.
