Council asks for more detail before signing letters in support of SB 703, EMOPI funding

"What it would do is just help provide funding to cover legal costs, to obtain the current process of legal citizenship," the mayor said when describing the intent of SB 703. Councilors asked for the proposed bill text and more information on EMOPI outcomes, including program accomplishments, operational costs and initial results, before the council would consider a formal letter of support.
Staff agreed to request the bill language and to invite EMOPI or program managers to a future council meeting to present early results and plans. No letters were sent at this meeting.
