Public works: water loss rises; staff training and certifications noted

Erica, the city’s public works director, told the council Dec. 10 that recent water-loss figures have increased after previous improvements and that staff are continuing management and troubleshooting efforts to identify the cause.
Erica also highlighted staffing updates: two employees completed their six-month probationary periods and one employee passed a Water Distribution Level 2 certification; a new utility staff member started last month. "Our water loss has gone back up... we're just working on brainstorming to figure out what's actually going on in our system," Erica said. The council thanked staff for cross-training and redundancy and noted follow-up items will be tracked in future director reports.
The council recorded the report in the packet and asked staff to return with further analysis if a leak or system issue is identified.
