The council approved Resolution 28-2024 on Dec. 10, formally accepting certified results for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election. Staff said the county returned certified results on Dec. 2 and that positions 2, 3 and 5 were filled in this cycle; no contests were reported for those seats.
Staff told council, "We do the swearing in at the 1st meeting in January, which will be the 14th," and said the swearing-in will include presentation of certificates of election and is open to family and friends. After certification, the council will elect its own mayor and council president at the January meeting as part of the organizational work following the oath of office.
Council moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. Staff noted that, after the swearing-in, the newly seated council will select internal leadership positions for the next term.
