Mount Hood Community College seeks Wood Village's endorsement for facilities bond

"By voting in favor of the Mount Hood Community College bond, we are ensuring education remains accessible, our workforce remains competitive, and our community remains strong," Charles George said, and he described estimated taxpayer impact as "about 25¢ per $1,000 assessed value or for the average homeowner in our area, about $5 a month." He also cited outcomes MHCC expects to produce, including hundreds of graduates in health care and technical fields who feed local employers.
Council members thanked the presenters and asked what city support would look like. MHCC offered endorsement forms and outreach help, but several councilors said they wanted additional materials and time to review pros and cons before passing a formal resolution or offering a public endorsement.
The council did not vote on an endorsement at the meeting and directed staff to schedule follow-up information and handouts to inform a future decision.
