Chief Stewart reports vehicle thefts, traffic enforcement uptick in Wood Village

"We had two small vehicles reported over the last 30 day period. One of those two vehicles was recovered, about a week later in Vancouver, Washington," Chief Stewart told the council. He said the office has increased targeted patrol hours and traffic stops — traffic stops rose to 90 from 67 in the cited period — and that overtime has been used for corridor enforcement.
Councilors thanked the sheriff’s office and discussed regional cooperation. Chief Stewart said the department is coordinating with Gresham and Troutdale and will deploy speed trailers and other traffic-safety missions to reduce crashes in major corridor areas.
The update included no request for new funding; Chief Stewart said the office is exploring operational adjustments and partnerships to address trends. Councilors did not take action but expressed appreciation for the increased patrol presence.
