County Clerk Crystal Valdez explained the statutory process under Texas Local Government Code Section 152.014 for appointing members to the salary grievance committee. The court opted to retain the traditional composition: six countywide elected officials (sheriff, tax assessor-collector, county treasurer, county clerk, district clerk, county attorney, and county judge) plus three public members drawn from the grand jury pool.
Valdez used a computer randomizer to order the grand jury list; she read the first three names aloud: Lesley Wilson, William Sayeg and Carlos Molina. The remaining 29 names will serve as alternates in the randomized order. Commissioners approved the composition option by unanimous vote; no further action was required at the meeting.
