Court approves ADA voting machine leases and election software renewal

Elections Administrator Jana Onion told the court the lease agreements are standard practice when an outside entity conducts its own election and needs ADA-compliant equipment to meet the Election Code. The court approved a lease for an ExpressVote marking device to be used by Mountain Peak Special Utility District in its general election on April 25, 2026, and a similar lease for Mansfield ISD for its May 2, 2026 election.
On the software item, Onion said the elections office has used Elect Task since 2023 to plan and manage election tasks; legal review has been completed and the renewal is budgeted. "It's $5,269," she said when asked to provide the line-item total. The court approved the leases and the software renewal by voice vote.
