Commissioners transfer two vehicles to Elections and clarify surplus proceeds
Summary
The court transferred a 2008 Ford Econoline (from sheriff) and a 2020 Ford Explorer (from Road & Bridge Precinct 2) to Elections and amended the motion so proceeds from future surplus sales will return to the originating departments (Explorer to Precinct 2; Econoline to the sheriff).

EJ Harbin told the court two county vehicles would be transferred to the Elections Office: a 2008 Ford Econoline extended van from the sheriff's office and a 2020 Ford Explorer from Road & Bridge Precinct 2. Harbin said the sheriff had asked that proceeds from the eventual disposal of the Econoline be returned to the sheriff's department.
Commissioners discussed how surplus sale proceeds are typically routed to the county's vehicle replacement fund and how seized-vehicle proceeds are treated differently; they agreed to clarify the disposition for these two vehicles. The court approved the transfers and then approved an amendment specifying that proceeds from the Explorer will go back to Road & Bridge Precinct 2 and proceeds from the Econoline will go to the sheriff's office upon surplus sale.
