Commissioners back 'Paint the Town Blue' resolution for Child Abuse Prevention Month

The judge read the resolution and invited volunteers who work with the Children's Advocacy Center to come forward for recognition.
A representative of the Child Welfare Board said the advocacy center has a full month of activities to support children and families and encouraged county participation. The resolution encourages residents, businesses, schools and community organizations to display blue ribbons, pinwheels, or blue lights to raise awareness.
The court noted county buildings and departments plan to participate, including lighting portions of the courthouse blue during April. The action was ceremonial and intended to raise public awareness rather than create new county obligations.
