The council voted unanimously to create an ad hoc committee of up to two councilmembers to explore a potential facility to host a United States Hockey League (USHL) franchise. Assistant City Manager Luis Garabay said the USHL had named Simi Valley among six West Coast target cities and recommended council form a committee to evaluate sites, partnership frameworks and financing options.
Council member Rhodes expressed enthusiasm and volunteered to serve. The motion to establish the ad hoc committee passed unanimously; staff will return with further details on scope and committee membership.
