District installs grant-funded Grizzly lathe, seeks $50,000 grant to expand shop

Adam Bridges, the district’s maintenance supervisor, reported summer work including installation of a large Grizzly lathe and mill in the welding lab, a new cement pour and USDA-approved epoxy coating in the walk-in cooler, and grounds work around the preschool and parking lot.
Bridges and Superintendent Scott said the lathe and associated tooling were paid for by a grant; the grant also funded bringing three-phase power to the shop. Scott said he is pursuing a roughly $50,000 grant to add a concrete pad, cover and fencing off the back of the building to expand the metal shop workspace.
Trustees were invited to view the new equipment; administrators said the lathe is already in use by students in CTE programming.
