The Warrenton City Commission voted to authorize a citation not to exceed $1,000 for the property at 247 Tyee after code compliance staff reported that the property’s nuisance conditions had not been substantially abated.
Christian Salinas, the city’s code compliance officer, told commissioners that photographs and site visits on Jan. 27–28 and Feb. 27 showed only partial dismantling of an RV and scattered debris and that improvements began only after the commission’s earlier deadline had passed. "I report that no significant improvement has been made and the violation still exists," Salinas said, describing dismantled campers and uncontained debris.
Commissioner (speaker 6) moved to authorize a citation consistent with municipal code 8.16.22, and the motion was seconded; the mayor pro tem called for the ayes and the motion passed. Staff explained the citation acts like a ticket that sets a court date and that the municipal judge has discretion to reduce or set a payment plan. Salinas said owners may plead hardship to the judge and staff will present evidence at the hearing.
The citation will set a court date and, if unpaid, can lead to further enforcement actions. The commission did not specify a per‑day fine beyond the motion’s $1,000 cap.
