Warren Brown, director of the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation, told commissioners on Jan. 20 that staff should begin negotiations with EDP on a renewable-energy project. Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer moved to start negotiations with EDP; Commissioner Laura Coons seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Brown also said commissioners must sign documents to pursue an OCRA grant and requested that staff obtain a cost estimate from Butler, Fairman & Seufert to review documents related to one wind project and one solar project. During public comment Deb Grider asked about moving forward with EDP; President John Lancaster answered that the county could not pursue both companies simultaneously and said they would start with RWE and then move on to EDP.
