Union County Board approves move of Trackrock precinct to new gym

The Union County Board of Elections voted unanimously on Jan. 12 to relocate the Trackrock precinct from Trackrock Gap Road to a new gym. Elections Superintendent Elizabeth Stevens said the existing building has air-conditioning and bathroom failures that would be expensive to repair, and no county facilities in that precinct were available as alternatives.
Stevens told the board that the relocation was publicly noticed in the North Georgia News for two weeks before the meeting and that no voters had raised objections before or during the session. The board made a formal motion to move the precinct and approved it unanimously; the county commissioner and the county attorney were present during the action. Board members in attendance were Jim Fitzgerald and Wayne Dahlstorm, and a quorum was confirmed at the start of the meeting.
