Probation to add Juvenile Liaison position funded by $27,460 in Opioid-restricted dollars

Floyd County Probation requested creation of several new line items to fund a Juvenile Liaison position and related personnel costs and asked to appropriate $27,460.64 from the Opioid Restricted Fund.
Kelly Deuser told the Council the position is supported in part by a two-year grant and that probation staff hope to find additional funding or reevaluate the position at the grants end. The appropriation covers salary, taxes, insurance, FICA, PERF and modest operating costs and was approved unanimously (motion by Connie Moon; seconded by Brad Striegel).
Connie Moon said the JRAC board works hard to allocate state-received funds to local needs and noted truancy in schools as part of the caseload this position will address. The Council recorded the new line items and authorized the opioid-restricted appropriation.
