The Floyd County Council on Aug. 13 approved a broad package of operations, redevelopment and capital appropriations that included a $3.2 million request to address the Old Vincennes Road slide.
Director of Operations Don Lopp presented multiple items across funds, asking the Council to approve new line items and additional appropriations for the Edwardsville School TIF debt service ($157,000 requested), bridge projects (separate requests of $150,000 and other PER engineering lines) and the Old Vincennes Road slide ($3,200,000). The agenda lists several new line items and transfers to support bridge construction and GIS and stormwater needs. Motions to approve the package were moved by Brad Striegel and seconded by Connie Moon and passed unanimously.
John Schellenberger noted that local projects had been scored for READI 2.0 and that Edwardsville school renovation ranked first among submitted projects; he reported that Eli Lilly grants supported blight remediation and arts that the school qualified for. The council did not identify immediate additional funding sources beyond the motions approved; staff will proceed with implementation steps for each fund as directed.
