The Cass County Council authorized staff to apply for READY 2 regional/state funds to construct a gatehouse at France Park.
The economic development presenter said the proposed project totals $650,000, with $250,000 requested from state READY funds and the match coming from the France Park nonreverting fund. The presenter described the gatehouse as a 24-by-48 structure with an eight-foot covered porch, ADA restrooms, two offices and space for a park store, and said the project is reimbursable, meaning the county must pay upfront and seek reimbursement through the regional planning council. The presenter said regional review has been supportive and that the application is awaiting a signature and portal submission.
Council members approved the request by motion and voice vote. The presenter noted the region had indicated the project fits Cass County priorities and he did not foresee obstacles after the final signature was obtained.
