Unity Recovery recognized as Parker County proclaims National Recovery Month

The County Judge introduced a proclamation recognizing September 2024 as National Recovery Month in Parker County at the request of Unity Recovery. Melissa Simmons of Unity Recovery told the court the organization, nearing two years of operation, has recorded more than 1,500 one-on-one engagements in the last year and helped over 250 people access services for recovery, housing, employment and documents.
Simmons said Unity Recovery plans housing for pregnant and parenting mothers and has capacity for up to 20 beds. She invited commissioners and the public to a Unity Recovery event at Heritage Park, scheduled for 10 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturday. Commissioners moved and approved the proclamation by unanimous vote. "We appreciate what y'all do here in Parker County," a commissioner said during the recognition.
