Resident accuses County Judge Chris Hill of underfunding services, ties tax cuts to strained county budgets

Murray criticized County Judge Chris Hill by name, saying Hill ‘‘has supported defunding the police and defunding the government’’ by advocating a tax rate that does not account for inflation and by lowering the rate to the no-new-revenue figure as the population grew. Murray said those choices will force residents to pay more in the future: ‘‘When it becomes time to pay the piper... you point fingers at everybody besides yourself.’’
Murray’s remarks were delivered during the public-comment portion of the meeting; commissioners did not take formal action in response to the allegations during this session.
