Court approves memorandum of understanding to place two SROs with Kennedy ISD
Summary

The commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding to provide two school resource officers (SROs) for Kennedy Independent School District after Kennedy Police Department ceased providing an SRO.
Commissioner Beatrick explained he contacted the school superintendent and arranged meetings between the sheriff's office and district leadership. The same MOU template used with Fall City ISD was adopted for Kennedy; the school board approved the agreement before it reached the commissioners. The county reported the MOU is reflected in the proposed budget and that the sheriff’s office will coordinate staffing and logistics.
"They have approved it, and so it is now here for us to approve," Commissioner Beatrick said. The court approved the item by motion and second.
The court noted the budget implications are accounted for in the recently approved amendments and thanked the sheriff for taking on the responsibilities.
