Parks report: $762,000 available for wetland project; community garden and playground planning underway

He said delineation and an updated archaeological survey are in progress and that staff is coordinating with the Grand Ronde Tribe on planting and educational signage; construction bidding is expected in January with work targeted for next summer.
Staff also outlined plans for a community garden with $12,000 in the budget, proposed 12 fenced raised beds including accessible heights, and said staff will work with Outgrowing Hunger and seek grants. On playground replacement, staff described the 1999 structure’s lifespan and plans to accumulate funds over 3–5 years, evaluate surface treatment options (engineered wood fiber vs. poured rubber), and conduct public outreach to parents and children to prioritize features and ADA access.
