Greg, the city staff presenter, told the council Pumpkin Fest was well attended — staff estimated 1,500–1,800 people — and that strategies to spread booths across the plaza reduced crowding compared with prior years. “We think we 15, 1800 people, more or less...those goody bags were gone by 12:30,” Greg said, describing activities including a petting zoo, carnival games and a costume contest that increased dwell time and community engagement.
Councilors discussed removing pre‑bagged baking kits from the goody bags and reallocating those funds toward interactive on‑site activities, improved traffic control, and additional photo stations. Councilor Mark Clark offered to volunteer for traffic direction and suggested signage and possibly hiring professional traffic flaggers for larger events; staff will incorporate council feedback into next year’s event plan and cost estimates.
