City to ask Marine Advisory Board to refine redesign; commission to review final draft

After the presentations and public discussion, city staff and the engineer recommended the Marine Advisory Board take the preliminary redesign back for detailed review and develop a recommendation to refine siting, phasing and priorities.
"It might be well served to have the marine advisory board kinda put together a recommendation on what they saw tonight," one senior staff member said, urging a formal board review before the commission considers final adoption. Commissioners expressed support for that approach and directed staff to incorporate board feedback into a final draft suitable for grant applications, CIP inclusion and further public engagement.
The commission also discussed urban renewal possibilities for larger Hammond redevelopment and the practical constraints of grant matching. Staff will return with an updated document that includes the Marine Advisory Board’s recommendations and clearer itemized cost estimates.
