Union County elections board approves moving Trackrock precinct to new gym

Elections Superintendent Elizabeth Stevens told the board the building suffered persistent air-conditioning and bathroom issues that would be too costly to repair and that no suitable county-owned alternatives were available in the precinct; churches were not considered secure because many people have keys. Stevens said the planned relocation was published in the North Georgia News for two weeks before the meeting and that no voters raised concerns at or before the session. A motion to move the precinct was made and the board approved it unanimously; the county commissioner and the county attorney were present for the action.
Board members present included Jim Fitzgerald and Wayne Dahlstorm; Stevens called the vote during the Jan. 12 meeting at the Elections Center.
