The Brown County Board of Zoning Appeals approved an amendment to the Wagler tourist home special exception to allow construction of a 14-by-16 screened-in porch at 6194 State Road 135 North in Jackson Township.
Planning staff summarized the petition and the board’s April findings, noting the property is zoned R-1 with an existing special exception for a tourist home. "Staff recommends approval of the site plan amendment to construct a screened in porch with the original conditions," Kayla said, citing limits such as a six-guest maximum, a requirement to use a local management company, and compliance with Brown County Health Department septic rules.
Petitioner Kenneth Wagner addressed the board about a contract mix-up involving the proposed local manager and said the neighbor he proposed, Justin Barrett of Just In Time Professional Cleaning/Property Management, would handle guest issues. "We apologize for the mix up," Wagner said; he and the board agreed the management contract should be revised to state the manager will respond during occupancy as well as between bookings.
After limited public comment (none in opposition) and board discussion focused on clarifying the local-management language, a motion to approve Docket 26-SE-04 as written passed by roll call. The approval carries the original tourist-home conditions, including posting notice prohibiting discharge of firearms and the requirement that building permits and inspections be completed before operation.
