Commission discusses joining countywide affordable-housing collaboration with Habitat for Humanity

"They're bringing a collaborative approach together to look at how they can bring on affordable housing...We have a map that shows vacant properties," one commissioner said. Participants discussed potential configurations such as cottage clusters and the possibility of community donations or partial donations of property and funds to subsidize infrastructure.
Commissioners noted the need to demonstrate active city participation to be a competitive applicant when countywide partners consider locations. No formal commitment of city funds was made at the July 15 meeting; the discussion focused on next steps to identify sites and make a formal approach to partners.
