Commissioners approve more than $1.3M for sheriff vehicles, body cameras and licenses

The court also approved licenses for Axon and the CAD system for dispatch — staff cited a total of roughly $22,985 for those licenses — and then approved additional body‑camera contract services up to $39,000. A separate motion to approve two transport employees (and associated vehicles) previously hired from another line was also approved.
Sheriff’s office leadership told the court the additional investigative staffing and vehicle replacements were driven by high mileage and rising caseloads; commissioners characterized the vehicle replacements and body‑camera contracts as necessary to maintain public‑safety continuity.
Next steps: Finance and purchasing will finalize contracts and proceed with procurement and outfitting under the direction of county staff.
