Residents urge more public participation after commissioners reappoint themselves to multiple boards

During the public‑comment period several residents addressed the commission about committee appointments and board composition. Ron Anderson, who said he had applied for a committee position, said he was surprised and disappointed that the application appeared to have been overlooked and that existing members were reappointed.
Doug Markworth asked that the commission consider more opportunities for citizen participation and questioned the practice of commissioners repeatedly serving on multiple boards. "It's fascinating that in a county nearing 30,000 that the five of you are on so many boards," Markworth said, urging the commission to allow more public members to serve.
The commission responded that applications were in the packet, that some positions are staggered and limited by terms, and that board composition by statute or practice sometimes includes county commissioners. The commission closed public comment and moved to other items.
