An alternate covers structured cabling, access control and surveillance. The agenda reflected a base-bid figure and an alternate with a $100,000 owner contingency; the project was presented as the lowest and most responsive bid after a competitive solicitation with multiple submissions.
Commissioners asked whether the renovation accounts for anticipated future needs; Facilities Management said the design considered future laboratory capacity "for decades to come." The court voted to award the purchase order and authorize the purchasing agent to execute award documents and budget transfers.
