The Yachats Planning Commission on July 15 announced that a variance request for the Fletcher property at 272 Combe Circle will be postponed until Aug. 19. Commission member Catherine Gunther told attendees the hearing would be moved and that anyone who planned to give oral testimony could instead submit written testimony by the Friday before the rescheduled hearing.
"So it is postponed," Gunther said. "If there's anybody who can't make it next month who planned on giving oral testimony, if they would like to submit written testimony, that can still happen until Friday the 16th of next month." The chair confirmed that the hearing will take place on Aug. 19.
The commission did not take any action on the variance at the July meeting and encouraged people who intend to participate to either attend on Aug. 19 or file written comments by the extended deadline. The commission's announcement also served to notify neighbors and other interested parties that the public hearing has been delayed to allow broader participation.
