District administrators told trustees they have prepared communication and transition steps to support Shields families and students if the board moves forward with closure.
Officials said families would receive a text and email the morning after a closure vote and that the district website's attendance-boundary map would be updated so a family can enter an address and see the zoned campus. Ms. Maroney reviewed recommended neighborhood-level boundary adjustments and described a June 1 transfer window through June 11 for affected students. "We will provide bus transportation to any parents or families who need it," an administrator said, and staff scheduled open houses next week so families can tour receiving campuses before the end of the school year.
Administrators also noted that the transfer review will respect FTBR criteria and available classroom capacity; they emphasized counselors and principals will coordinate to place students and monitor attendance and academic progress during the transition.
