Court approves ARPA amendment to fund mental‑health training with Amarillo College

The court approved an amendment to the county's ARPA-funded interlocal agreement with Amarillo College to allow remaining funds to support a proposed post-traumatic purpose training for first responders next February. An advisory-committee member explained the original $25,000 agreement included delivery of several trainings and that $12,350 remained available; the sheriff's office previously contributed $2,650 toward an earlier delivery.
"There's $12,350 remaining under that contract with Amarillo College," the advisory-committee speaker said, adding that the proposed training would cost about $30,000 and that Panhandle 100 Club and other partners would help cover the balance. The court voted to authorize the county judge to sign a letter of concurrence with Amarillo College and approved using the remaining ARPA funds for the training by voice vote.
