Lennox council to apply for $16.3 million State Water Plan grant

City staff told the Lennox City Council it will submit a State Water Plan application requesting $16,300,000 for a project that staff expects will be reduced in scope before final approval. "That's the state water plan application that we'll submit, for $16,300,000," staff member Nate told the council.
Nate said the application is likely to be paired back to a smaller project and that Alderman Peterson had asked whether special assessments for streets would further reduce the city's requested funding. "Alderman Peterson asked today too, you know, that'll be reduced even further by special assessments for those streets and that is accurate as well," Nate said. Council members asked follow‑up questions about how the final project would be sized and how assessments would be applied.
Council did not take a final vote on the project at this meeting; staff indicated the application will move forward and that project details and funding distribution would be refined before any formal council action.
