House approves bill directing DCS to coordinate with disability agency for children in custody

Chairwoman Littleton, speaking for the bill, described requirements for the Department of Children's Services to collaborate with the Department of Disability and Aging to develop training, provide consultation on oversight and monitoring of residential services and to allow DCS to refer children suspected to have disabilities for DDA service recommendations.
During floor discussion Representative Frantz asked whether the bill shifts mandatory duties to optional language; Littleton said the departments worked together and agreed on the approach. No amendments remained on the floor and the House voted to pass the bill.
